Dental Crowns – Dayton, OH

Custom-Made Dental Restorations with Expert Care

Two dental crown restorations

Your teeth are made of extremely strong enamel, but unfortunately, it can still break or decay. Your enamel protects the more sensitive inside portion of your teeth called dental pulp, so damage or decay can lead to pain and sensitivity. At Rahn Dental Group, we create high-quality, customized dental crowns that complement your smile. We offer several materials for this restoration, including metal-free ceramics that have a beautifully lifelike appearance. Please contact us today if you’re interested in receiving dental crowns in Dayton to beautify and strengthen your smile.

What is a Dental Crown?

Woman with big and beautiful smile

Dental crowns get their name because they literally cap or cover the entire portion of your tooth that is showing above your gums. This not only restores the appearance of your smile, but it allows for stronger biting power and function. At Rahn Dental Group, we custom-make dental crowns to seamlessly repair your decayed or damaged teeth. Dental crowns can be made out of various materials, and our expert dental team offers high-quality ceramics to give you the most natural-looking restoration available.

Who is a Good Candidate for Dental Crowns?

Dental crowns

If your tooth is in need of restoration for the sake of both its health and its appearance, our dentists are likely to recommend a dental crown. Crowns are extremely versatile and can be used in a wide variety of situations, including the following:

  • When a tooth has suffered serious decay that can’t be treated with a filling.
  • When a tooth has been injured and needs to be rebuilt.
  • When a tooth has become weakened and has a high risk of fracturing in the future.
  • When a tooth has a serious cosmetic imperfection like a chip or crack.
  • When a tooth has been lost and has a dental implant that needs to be covered.
  • When a tooth has been treated with root canal therapy.

How Do I Receive a Dental Crown?

Close-up of man’s smile

Once one of our expert dentists decide that a dental crown is the right treatment for your tooth, they will clean away any damage and decay, then begin the process. A small portion of your dental structure will be removed to accommodate your crown, and then we will take impressions of your smile to create a crown that looks, feels, and functions like your natural teeth. You’ll be given a temporary crown to wear until your permanent one is made. Once your new crown is fabricated, you will come back into our office where one of our dentists in Dayton will place and finalize your restoration.
