Root Canals
If you have a badly decayed or damaged tooth, you may need a root canal. Although many people cringe at those words, with today’s modern dental techniques, there’s no need to fear a root canal. The procedure can be surprisingly comfortable and is a conservative treatment option to save a tooth from extraction.
Your tooth contains pulp, commonly called the nerve. The pulp has canals that extend down its root. Damage or decay can cause bacteria to infect these canals, killing the nerve and causing pain and pressure. If the infection is caught early, a root canal can eradicate the infection and save your tooth. Left untreated, extraction may be required. To perform your root canal, we’ll clean out the diseased canal and then fill and seal it, effectively restoring tooth function and preserving your bite.
